Responsibilities

Provides support to the Credit Officer in underwriting loans with moderate to higher level complexity. Joins credit officer and commercial banking officers on client and prospect calls in multiple markets. Completes due diligence and analyzes industry and company financial information.

Prepares spreads, written analysis and underwriting documents that provide a comprehensive financial analysis of the borrower and guarantor’s financial condition, documenting repayment capacity and including industry comparisons and projections when necessary (LAR and other materials as needed). Demonstrates strong judgment in loan structuring and recommendations for approval and interacts effectively with clients.

Education & Experience

• 4‑year college degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting or equivalent education and experience.

• Minimum 5 years of lending or credit experience.

Skills & Abilities

Strong verbal, writing and interpersonal skills.

Excellent analytical, credit and underwriting skills.

Sound organizational and time‑management skills.

Complete knowledge of commercial loan policy and relevant federal and state regulations pertinent to commercial lending.

Sound understanding of economics, commercial finance and accounting.

Tasks Performed
  • 45% – Prepare written analysis of loan requests, providing comprehensive financial analysis of the borrower and guarantor’s financial condition, documenting repayment capacity, including industry comparisons and projections when necessary for loans of moderate to higher level complexity.
  • Contribute independently and demonstrate good judgment based on knowledge and experience when preparing financial models and risk assessments.
  • Use industry knowledge and experience to propose appropriate loan structures.
  • Conduct loan‑level stress analysis and identify critical risk factors, proposing appropriate loan structures and mitigation factors to reduce credit risk.
  • 15% – Join credit officer and relationship managers on client and prospect calls and on periodic visits and meetings with team members in various markets.
  • Participate in monthly pipeline reviews and assist in coordinating workflow with line of business and credit support.
  • 10% – Assist lending officers in preparing, completing and reviewing materials necessary to present a loan request to the Officer Loan Committee and the Board of Directors Loan Committee for approval.
  • 10% – Prepare reports for management and others using various system reports and miscellaneous data when needed, assist with portfolio administration within the Commercial Loan Division, and assist with training credit support and other staff members.
  • 10% – Spread tax returns, business and personal financial statements and prepare financial projections as appropriate.
  • 5% – Maintain awareness and working knowledge of loan policy and procedures, loan products, remain current on economic and market conditions, and accounting and regulatory changes. Integrate new information effectively in work products.
  • 5% – Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

• Communicate effectively with internal and/or external customers.

• Stationary 75% of time or greater.

• Move objects up to 10 lbs.
