Compensation & Benefits

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short‑term incentives (bonus and/or commission) and may include long‑term incentives (stock awards). Benefits include comprehensive healthcare, well‑being benefits, paid family leave, and generous paid time off.

Total Rewards also include banking perks, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, a 401K plan with company match, and the opportunity to participate in a Non‑Qualified Deferred Compensation plan. Incentives and benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.

Part‑time Teller starting pay: $18.00/hr.

Position Summary

Provide customer service and process both business and individual banking transactions. Manage a cash drawer, cross‑sell bank services, and maintain prompt, efficient customer transactions.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Institutional knowledge of banking.
  • Receive cash and checks for deposit, verify amounts, endorsements, and review checks for possible fraud, including holds.
  • Examine cash carefully to guard against counterfeit bills.
  • Cash checks for customers in accordance with bank policy.
  • Enter transactions into computer system and issue receipts.
  • Assist customers with transactions and ATM operations.
  • Provide accurate customer service, including balancing the cash drawer throughout the day to reduce and eliminate teller differences.
  • Understand basic knowledge of deposit and lending products and services.
  • Identify correct product types through needs‑based questioning, enabling deeper customer relationships.
  • Cross‑sell bank products and services to corresponding business partners and assist customers with electronic services.
  • Enter opportunities into customer information software.
  • Serve as relief/backup teller in other Midland States Bank locations.
  • Complete all assigned learning activities and participate in weekly huddles and one‑on‑one coaching sessions.
  • Demonstrate Midland States Bank core values that support the bank’s culture and participate in bank‑sponsored community activities.
  • Travel occasionally for training, team meetings, or internal collaboration within the market as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
  • Minimum requirement:
    High School Diploma.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and transport coin and currency bags weighing between 25 and 50 pounds.
