Village of Hinsdale, Code Enforcement Officer

The Village of Hinsdale is seeking a full-time Code Enforcement Officer to join our Community Development Department. This position is open due to an upcoming retirement and serves as a key frontline representative of the Village, ensuring compliance with property maintenance, zoning, and related municipal codes and ordinances. The Code Enforcement Officer conducts residential, commercial, and mixed-use inspections; investigates complaints; prepares reports and case documentation;

and works collaboratively with property owners, residents, contractors, and other Village departments to achieve timely compliance. This is a non-exempt, 40-hour-per-week position reporting to the Building Official. The salary range is $73,304 – $110,259 (Pay Grade NM350), and we will pay a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications within the posted range. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma (Associate degree or related coursework preferred) and a minimum of three years of experience in code enforcement, property maintenance inspection, building inspection, zoning administration, or a related field. ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification is required or must be obtained within a specified period after hire. A valid Illinois Driver’s License and strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
