Experienced Police Officer - Lateral

The Delavan Police Department is hiring a full‑time experienced police officer for a lateral position. The role requires a U.S. citizen aged 21or older, a high school diploma or equivalent, residence within 30miles of City Hall, and being in good physical condition. Candidates must pass a physical exam, psychological test, polygraph, and background investigation. The position offers $28.08–$31.00 per hour ($58,406–$64,480 per year) with $1per hour after probation, shift flexibility, and expected nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Enforce laws and protect the public by responding to emergencies, assisting victims, and preventing crime.
• Build relationships with the community and contribute to the health and safety of vulnerable populations.
• Conduct investigations by interviewing suspects, witnesses, and collecting evidence at crime scenes.
• Work with the court system, including collecting evidence for trial and attending to testify when requested.
• Participate in and testify at court hearings when required.
• Process incident reports with accurate detail and factual information.
• Assist the city with various tasks, including code enforcement responsibilities.

• Minimum age 21.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Good standard with the Training and Standards Board.
• Good physical condition (determined by a physical exam).
• Willingness to pass psychological, polygraph, and background investigation.
• Shift flexibility; availability for nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Two years of law‑enforcement experience preferred but not required.

• Hourly rate: $28.08–$31.00 per hour ($58,406–$64,480 per year).
