Surgery Scheduler – Orthopaedics/Podiatry (Naperville) – Full Time Position Details
- Full‑time, 40 hours/week
- Hours:
Monday‑Friday; 7:30am‑4:00pm or 8:00am‑4:30pm - Location:
Naperville – Spalding office - Travel:
Expected to travel as needed for coverage or to work with provider schedules - On‑site training at Orland Hills for first 90 days, 7:30am‑4:00pm
- Base pay: $16.30‑$24.50 per hour (plus shift differentials, bonuses, incentives)

- Greet patients in person and via phone, maintain a friendly demeanor.
- Develop and maintain relationships with physicians and scheduling staff.
- Verify patient personal and insurance information; coordinate pre‑operative testing per insurance.
- Act as single point of contact for internal staff and external inquiries for all scheduled procedures.
- Schedule and/or reschedule pre‑op labs or other testing before procedures and surgeries as necessary.
- Contact patients to confirm procedures/surgeries.
- Explain and verify proper preparation instructions; route to nurse if appropriate.
- Prepare all essential paperwork for referral coordinators and facilities.
- Verify daily doctors’ schedules, print and distribute to personnel.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Work with billing staff to ensure all procedures are charged.
- Cover/fill‑in for co‑workers as needed.
- Track case volume and direct cases to facilities per management direction.
- Medical terminology, verbal and written.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD‑9 coding.
- Referral process familiarity.
- Ability to learn new computer programs.
- Professional demeanor towards customers, physicians, and coworkers.
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and time‑management skills.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 2+ years of surgery scheduling, telephone, computer, and customer‑service experience.
