Pharmacist In Charge - Retail Pharmacy
Location: Galena, Illinois
Salary: $150,000 to $160,000
Job DescriptionThe pharmacy is closed on the weekends and most major holidays. Work hours are 9:00 AM–5:30 PM (the pharmacy will close 12:30–1:00 PM for lunch). On‑site parking is available.
Primary Role- Preparing and dispensing appropriate pharmaceuticals to patients, leading a team of pharmacy technicians, and managing the overall day‑to‑day pharmacy responsibilities.
- Review and execute provider's prescriptions, checking their appropriateness and legality.
- Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster.
- Maintain full control over medication inventory, stocking and labeling medicine and other products, and monitor their condition to prevent expiration or deterioration.
- Listen carefully to customers to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and advice.
- Prepare medicine when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patient.
- Maintain patient profiles and history of all activities regarding medications dispensed.
- Keep abreast and stay current with HIPAA and fraud, waste, and abuse credentialing.
- Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Ensure that the pharmacy and its employees are compliant with federal, state, and local laws.
- Ensure that the pharmacy and its employees are aware and compliant with local facility policies.
- Direct the daily work of pharmacy technicians, including providing input into performance evaluations and advising senior management of any behavioral and/or performance issues.
- Manage the pharmacy technician schedules, including advising senior management of any requests for leave or medical accommodations.
- Other duties as necessary.
- Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Minimum 3 years’ pharmacy manager experience.
- Previous retail pharmacy experience.
- Active pharmacist license in Illinois. Applicants in process of obtaining the license or who have not yet received the license will not be considered.
