The Associate Scientific Director, Oncology – US Medical Affairs provides specialist medical and scientific strategic and operational input into core medical affairs activities such as health‑care professional interactions, analysis of clinical and scientific data to enhance therapeutic benefit and value, and educational initiatives including medical education, scientific communication, and value proposition. The role works closely with sales, marketing, and commercial teams to provide strategic medical input into core brand strategies and support medical affairs, marketing activities, promotional material generation, product launches, and market access.

This position is based at the Mettawa, IL office and will follow a hybrid schedule of 3 days on site per week.

Responsibilities
  • Provide input into the development of the medical strategy for approved assets within oncology.
  • Develop and lead execution of medical education tactics, advisory boards, and thought‑leader engagement plans aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Support generation of clinical and scientific evidence to address identified evidence gaps.
  • Assist in development of scientifically accurate marketing materials, medical education programs, advisories, and symposia.
  • Assist with scientific review, development, approval, execution, and communication of clinical research activities.
  • Establish and maintain strong, credible relationships with key opinion leaders and engage in activities aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate scientific and medical activities with internal stakeholders and serve as interface for key regulatory discussions.
  • Provide scientific/medical education to HCPs and project team members; stay updated through conferences and literature.
  • Provide congress operations support by coordinating materials, logistics, and cross‑functional inputs to ensure compliant, timely execution.
  • Ensure budgets, timelines, and compliance requirements are factored into programs’ scientific activities.
Qualifications
  • Scientific degree (bachelor’s) required; advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, PA, NP) preferred. Residency or post‑doctoral experience preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent; substantial understanding of oncology required.
  • Strong presentation, inter‑personal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage externally and internally to support global business strategy.
  • Experience representing a company at external meetings, including HCP and scientific association meetings.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and exercise judgment within defined policies.
