Front Desk Receptionist – Marion Eye Center
Location: DuQuoin, IL 62832
Position Type: Full Time
Salary Range: $15.75 - $16.00 Hourly
The Front Desk Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients at Marion Eye Center. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and efficient environment by managing patient check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting payments, and assisting the clinical and optical teams with day-to-day administrative support.
Key Responsibilities- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous, professional manner.
- Check patients in and out, confirm appointments, and update demographic and insurance information in the practice management system.
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments for exams, procedures, and optical services.
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain authorizations as needed.
- Collect co-pays, balances, and other payments; issue receipts and maintain accurate cash logs.
- Answer and route incoming phone calls; take detailed messages and ensure prompt follow-up.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and Marion Eye Center policies.
- Assist with scanning, filing, and maintaining patient records.
- Support doctors, technicians, and optical staff with patient flow to ensure an efficient schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area.
- Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by management.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous medical office or front desk experience preferred, ophthalmology or optometry experience a plus.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills: experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Clinic setting across Southern Illinois locations.
- Frequent interaction with patients, staff, and physicians.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and move between exam rooms and the front office as needed.
