GENERAL SUMMARY

Drives medivan in response to non-emergency requests for services and transportation. Keeps work areas and medivan clean, neat and orderly. Protects patient safety by obeying speed limit laws, properly securing patients, and being aware of maintenance needs of the vehicle.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Drives medivan at a speed necessary to arrive at destination timely and safely in response to requests for non-emergency medical transportation.
  • Completes all required phone application functions for trip completion.
  • Interviews patients to assure appropriateness of medivan transportation.
  • Provides safe and effective non-emergency medical transportation of patients to medical facilities, diagnostic centers, homes or other approved destinations.
  • Serves as an ambassador for Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services by presenting a positive attitude while providing all customer related services.
  • Checks equipment at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure it is in a state of operational readiness.
  • Cleans vehicle interior and exterior as well as performs routine preventive maintenance checks.
  • Notifies Director of any necessary repairs.
  • Keeps work areas neat, clean, and orderly.
  • Participates in educational programs and integrates learning into job role.
  • Completes specific job competencies for continued employment.
  • Completes any organizational and departmental training requirements annually.
  • Performs additional duties as requested.
  • Meets scheduled attendance and on-call requirements as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds or more on a daily basis.
  • Ability to carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds or more on a daily basis.
  • Ability to stand up to 2 hours at a time on a daily basis.
  • Ability to reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity, ability to crawl and maneuver in confined spaces and ability to communicate with others and color vision. Sufficient auditory and visual acuity to interact with and/or care for others.
  • Ability to push, pull and/or lift wheelchairs occupied by patients on a daily basis.
  • Ability to lift and position patients on a daily basis.
  • Ability to proofread and check documents for accuracy on a daily basis.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ramps on a daily basis.
