Job SummaryResponsible for registering patients presenting for emergency services at Anderson Hospital or urgent services at an express care location by accurately and efficiently collecting patient demographic information and insurance information and entering it into the hospital registration system. This includes POS collections for any patient liabilities due at the time of service. This position will also be responsible for learning multiple software applications that relate to the registration processes and the collection processes.
As a front line employee, the Patient Access ER Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service while also protecting the privacy of the patient's health information.
Job Responsibilities
- Receiving Walk-In ER Patients
- Registering EMS Patients and/or ER Patients
- Returning to the patient to complete the registration process after the physician has seen the patient
- Identifying the patient's Primary Care Physician
- Collecting any applicable copayment or ER deposit if the patient has no insurance
- Reviewing the Important Message from Medicare or the Observation Letter and obtaining the appropriate signatures
- Registering direct admissions 24/7 into the hospital
- Registering direct admissions to the TRC unit
- Reviewing the Ecare Next Work List to address error issues
- Knowing and understanding Downtime Procedures
- Knowing and understanding all Patient Access Processes and Procedures and all software processes and procedures
- Wearing their badge and the appropriate uniform jacket
- Meeting any new requirements
Job Responsibilities
- Receiving patients as they enter the Express Care and asking each patient, or the responsible party, to complete a patient Admission Card
- Using/reviewing the Admission Card and obtaining additional identification and insurance information to accurately complete the patient registration
- Identifying the patient's Primary Care Physician
- Collecting any applicable copayment or Express Care deposit
- Scanning all of the patient registration documentation and clinical documentation for each patient visit to the Express Care
- Reviewing the Ecare Next Work List to address error issues
- Knowing and understanding Downtime Procedures
- Wearing their badge and the appropriate uniform jacket
- Meeting any new requirements
Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience Requirements:
Typing skills of 50 wpm. Prior Customer Service experience required. Recent Patient Access experience preferred. POS Collection experience preferred. Exposure to multiple types of software technology preferred. Medical Terminology course or background preferred.
