The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant will provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment to assigned patients, helping them reach maximum performance levels and use skills learned to function in the community within the limits of their capabilities.

• Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OTR) and assist in carrying out treatment plans.
• Provide consultation in environmental design, adaptive equipment, and proper positioning of patients to prevent contractures and splinting.
• Administer and write evaluations of assigned patients in accordance with departmental standards and procedures.
• Maintain timely and accurate patient records and reports.
• Design and administer treatment programs to increase patients’ levels of functioning.
• Use therapeutic exercises and activities to improve or maintain strength, range of motion, and fine‑motor coordination.
• Instruct patients in adapted techniques and the use of adaptive equipment for meal preparation, home management, dressing, feeding, and other self‑care skills.
• Train patients in the use of upper‑extremity prosthetic devices to resume previous daily routines.
• Participate in home assessments.
• Provide therapy for neurological integration; administer sensor‑motor integration treatment techniques and visual perceptual‑motor remediation programs.
• Use activities to increase developmental levels of patients.
• Design and provide individualized therapy for adult learning‑disabled patients.
• Design and fabricate splints as specified by doctors’ prescriptions, and fabricate slings and adaptive equipment to meet patient and family needs.
• Administer treatment programs to traumatic brain‑injured patients.
• Use activities to improve judgment skills, reality orientation, and organizational skills.
• Provide prevention therapy to maintain functional skills; instruct patients in energy conservation, joint protection, safety techniques for sensory loss, transferring, and visual field deficits; instruct families in personal care for patients, especially proper transfer techniques to avoid back strain.
• Administer pre‑vocational programs to prepare patients to return to or enter a work setting.
• Provide activities to assess patients’ organizational skills, attention spans, cognitive abilities, coordination (fine and gross motor), and adaptive‑equipment needs.
• Design home programs and instruct patients or families in carrying out such programs.
• Participate in patient support groups with other team members.
• Demonstrate ability to read, write, and speak English sufficient to fulfill job requirements.
• Make independent decisions and solve practical problems, interpreting instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
• Listen actively and evaluate social situations objectively, consistently, and fairly.
• Function independently with integrity, flexibility, and work well with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
• Comply with community policies and procedures for workplace safety, including infection control procedures, emergency response, and safety protocol.
• Comply with all company policies related to resident rights, abuse prevention and reporting, and resident confidentiality (HIPAA).
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Employee Handbook and comply with its policies.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy required.
• Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association required.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Strong customer service orientation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Ability to use tools to make adaptive equipment.
