Centralized Scheduling Specialist

The Centralized Scheduling Specialist schedules patients, reviews the orders, conducts required pre-authorization and pre-registers the patients. Specialist must be detail oriented, accurate and timely. Works closely with the Patient Accounts, Health Information Services, and physicians' office staff. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma or equivalent.
• Training and
  
  Experience:
  
  Minimum of 1year hospital/medical experience required. A good understanding of medical terminology required. The Scheduling Specialist should have a thorough understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, HMO’s, PPO’s private insurance companies and CPT codes. Knowledge of computers, and standard office equipment and must have good data entry skills.
• Job Knowledge:
  The Scheduling Specialist should be skilled in greeting patients and answering telephone calls in a pleasant and helpful manner, with the ability to speak clearly and concisely without the perception of rudeness. The Specialist will have the ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction. Will have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons within the Hospital, Clinics (co-workers, patients, public, etc.)
