Medical Screener

Join the American National Red Cross as a Medical Screener and support lifesaving blood collection efforts. You will greet donors, review health histories, take vital signs, and ensure eligibility using established protocols. This role includes documenting findings accurately, maintaining strict safety and infection-control standards, and providing compassionate donor care. You'll collaborate with clinical and volunteer teams, support mobile and fixed-site blood drives, and uphold Red Cross humanitarian values while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a mission-driven healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet donors and verify identification and appointments
• Conduct health history interviews using standardized questionnaires
• Measure and record vital signs and other screening metrics
• Assess donor eligibility based on Red Cross protocols
• Document all findings accurately in electronic systems
• Maintain infection control and safety standards, including proper PPE use
• Provide clear instructions and compassionate support to donors
• Collaborate with clinical and volunteer staff at blood drives and fixed sites
• Identify and promptly escalate any medical concerns to clinical supervisors
• Support setup and breakdown of screening areas at mobile and fixed locations
