Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Dietitian will be responsible for nutritional service to both inpatients and outpatients of MCH. The dietitian will provide support and guidance to the Dietary department and Medical staff with regard to dietary needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Assess the nutritional needs of clients who have been referred or those that meet nutrition screening criteria due to having a medical condition which puts them at nutritional risk.
- Charts care plans and other nutritional information to be communicated to physicians. Makes diet recommendations to physician as needed.
- Educates patient on nutrition as requested by the physician.
- Performs nutritional assessments on all swing bed, tube feeding, peripheral, and total parenteral nutrition patients.
- Assist the Dietary Director with developing quality measures and indicators and development of policies and procedures as needed.
- Collaborate with the Long Term Care Administrator, nursing and the healthcare team to comply with Federal and State Guidelines for nutritional care of residents and patients.
- Counsel clients as requested in various settings (inpatient, outpatient, long-term care).
- Assist the Dietetics Director with training staff, if needed.
- Collaborate with and assist the directors of Culinary Creations and Dietetics in planning the menus for regular and therapeutic diets, developing checklists, schedules, and quality assurance forms, and checking staff for safe food handling procedures.
- Report abuse or suspected abuse to the Long Term Care Administrator.
- Provide nutritional guidance to clients at Elite Sport and Fitness who have requested a consultation.
- Participate in various community events with regards to nutrition education.
- Conducts educational clinics for hospital personnel when requested.
- Adheres to all professional standards, policies and procedures, federal/state/local requirements and regulatory organizations.
