Quad County Home Medical Supplies & Equipment is looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. The candidate will provide respiratory care services in patients’ homes, including delivery, set‑up, instruction, and maintenance of respiratory and durable medical equipment. Responsibilities also include patient and caregiver education, follow‑up care, and completion of required documentation while ensuring safe, quality patient care.
Requirements:- Perform respiratory assessments and evaluate patients' respiratory care needs.
- Provide setup, instruction, monitoring, and follow‑up for respiratory equipment and supplies.
- Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and safety of respiratory equipment.
- Provide instruction and support related to oxygen therapy, nebulizers, CPAP/BiPAP and other respiratory devices, as applicable to patient needs and company services.
- Assess patients for proper equipment use and identify potential safety or compliance concerns.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems and coordinate repairs, replacements, or additional supplies as necessary.
- Communicate significant changes in patient condition or respiratory needs to the appropriate healthcare provider.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, discharge planners, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
- Follow physician orders, applicable clinical protocols, and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, delivery records, patient education records, and other required documentation.
- Assist with equipment deliveries, setups, exchanges, and pickups when needed.
- Ensure equipment is appropriately fitted, functioning properly, and used safely in the patient's home.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Participate in quality assurance, infection‑control, and patient‑safety initiatives.
- Maintain knowledge of respiratory care practices, DME requirements, equipment technology, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Provide professional, courteous, and compassionate service to patients and their families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required
- Current Respiratory Care Practitioner/Respiratory Therapist credential or license as required by the state.
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory care/respiratory therapy program.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel to patients' homes and other healthcare facilities.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound clinical judgment.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and handle respiratory equipment and supplies as required.
- Experience in home respiratory care, home medical equipment, DME, hospital discharge planning, or home health.
- Experience with oxygen therapy and non‑invasive ventilation.
- Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP, nebulizers, suction equipment, oxygen concentrators, portable oxygen systems, and related respiratory equipment.
- Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, insurance requirements, and DME documentation.
- Experience providing patient and caregiver education in a home setting.
- Strong understanding of respiratory anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.
