Contribute to a customer service-driven banquet operation. Personally perform, as well as supervise the activities of Banquet Housepersons in arranging meeting rooms for banquet events. Lead, motivate and inspire Banquet Servers/Bartenders to deliver consistently high-quality banquet service. Drive continuous improvement in service quality by defining and improving processes, developing staff and encouraging communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Implement banquet quality standards for Starved Rock Lodge
- Implement standard operating procedures for banquet meeting space arrangement and ensure that Housepersons are properly trained
- Provide needed A/V equipment for banquet events and ensure that all equipment is thoroughly tested in advance
- Ensure that the satellite kitchen and banquet areas are thoroughly cleaned and organized
- Assert management functions in the absence of the Sales & Catering Manager
- Manage performance of staff
- Greet and maintain rapport with customers, maintaining a positive image and promoting the Lodge to current and potential customers
- Develop ongoing training program
- Monitor supplies needed for meeting spaces, including tables, chairs, and linens
- High school diploma
- Illinois Allergen Awareness Certification
- Knowledge of hospital industry, with preference given to lodge/hotel and banquet operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of the legal requirements for banquet operations, including human resources management and safety.
- Demonstrated success in building strong teams and motivating staff performance.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated high level of organization and time management.
- At least two years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated success at managing people and delegating responsibility.
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be willing to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
