Job Summary
Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties, ensuring program standards are met. The role also regularly performs the full range of housekeeping services, including cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces using hand and powered equipment.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Oversee and disseminate information and instructions received from the supervisor or manager.
- Assist in training new associates and answer questions regarding changes to policies, procedures, and directives.
- Ensure work schedules are adhered to, keep the supervisor apprised of work status, and advise concerning problem areas.
- Train and demonstrate proper work methods and procedures for all personnel, ensuring efficient and economical cleaning methods.
- Maintain required cleaning materials and linens, ensuring availability.
- Accomplish housekeeping work of the same kind and level as performed by the associates led.
- Maintain records of housekeeping work performed by room number, occupant departure and arrival dates, etc.
- Maintain continuity in the absence of an immediate supervisor.
- Greets and welcomes guests, always maintaining outstanding guest relations.
- Conduct daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, and laundry facilities; document findings in writing.
- Ensure guest privacy and security are maintained at all times.
- Secure all items in the storeroom or assigned storage areas.
- Determine and place orders for cleaning supplies, in-room amenities, and other materials needed by housekeeping staff.
- Ensure equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for.
- Issue amenities, supplies, and linen to the Housekeeping Attendants and perform monthly or quarterly inventory as required.
- Handle guest or staff suggestions and complaints, resolving problems diplomatically and referring difficult situations to the supervisor.
- May be responsible for set‑up, breakdown, and clean‑up of the complementary self‑service breakfast bar, ensuring the area is returned to its original state by the end of breakfast.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, applying knowledge of blood‑borne pathogen safety measures.
- Follow all NEXCOM Hospitality Group NHG protocols during daily service activities.
- Perform and inspect laundry operations at the facility.
- Maintain operations during inclement weather and other emergencies if called upon.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- No experience required.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- 6 months of housekeeping experience preferred.
- Leadership and/or training experience preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as required.
- Food handling certifications as applicable.
- NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment.
