HR Country Manager – Iraq
The HR Country Manager – Iraq is responsible for developing and executing the local HR strategy and plans to deliver Weatherford's business and people objectives. The role leads a team of HR professionals to provide high-quality, customer-focused services aligned with global HR policies, ensuring effective balance between global standards and Iraq's regulatory and cultural environment.
As a trusted partner to the business, the incumbent will advise, coach, and support leaders in all people-related matters. The position requires navigating complexity in talent markets, labour regulations, and organizational change to deliver efficient, compliant, and impactful HR solutions. This position is pivotal in shaping Weatherford's culture and people agenda in Iraq — balancing strategic impact with operational excellence to enable business success.
Responsibilities:- Safety, Quality & Compliance:
- Role model and actively promote Weatherford's Safety, Quality & Compliance policies
- Ensure compliance with local labour laws, company standards, and ethical practices
- Continuously improve HR processes to enhance quality, service, and productivity
- Strategic & Operational Delivery:
- Translate the MENA & Global HR and business strategy into actionable plans for Iraq
- Partner with management to design and execute HR initiatives covering talent acquisition, development, performance, reward, succession, and retention
- Support organizational design, change management, and leadership development initiatives
- Oversee efficient and compliant execution of HR transactions through Shared Services
- Develop HR budgets, forecasts, and KPIs; monitor delivery and drive continuous improvement
- Business Partnership:
- Build trusted relationships with business and functional leaders to provide proactive advice and solutions
- Anticipate and address people-related challenges impacting operations and performance
- Partner with the Geozone and Global HR networks to ensure alignment with the "One Weatherford" way of operating
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Maintain strong, transparent communication with management, employees, and external stakeholders
- Ensure awareness and compliance with Weatherford's policies and local regulatory requirements
- Promote a positive employee experience and culture of trust, accountability, and inclusion
- Financial Stewardship:
- Apply sound financial and resource management principles in all HR initiatives
- Deliver cost-effective HR services that support business performance and productivity
- Uses HR metrics and analytics to assess productivity, cost efficiency, and talent ROI, translating insights into actionable, data-driven decisions.
- People Development:
- Lead, coach, and develop the Iraq HR team to build capability and deliver excellence
- Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Support succession planning and talent pipeline development across all levels
- Vision & Leadership:
- Drive an integrated HR strategy for Iraq aligned with global priorities.
- Build deep understanding of the local business context to deliver practical and high-impact solutions
- Champion cultural transformation, diversity, and employee engagement initiatives
- 10–15 years of progressive HR experience in multinational organizations
- Minimum 5 years experience at management level preferred
- Background in Oil & Gas essential
- Proven experience leading HR teams and business partnership functions
- Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills at all levels
- Strategic mindset with ability to execute operational priorities
- Broad HR expertise across performance, talent, compensation, employee relations, DE&I, and learning
- Deep understanding of business drivers, risk management, and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced, and multicultural environment
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and change management capabilities
- Strong knowledge of Iraq labour law and employment practices is essential
- Fluent in Arabic and English both verbal and written is essential
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field (Master's preferred).
