Summary
The Lab Manager oversees and ensures the optimal operation of the Department’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) & Remote Sensing (RS) Laboratory and its equipment, supporting research, instruction, and technical staff.
Qualification, Knowledge and Experience- Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology / Computer Science / Computer Engineering / Geospatial Science (GIS), or a closely related field.
- A minimum two (2) years of relevant post‑qualification professional experience in technical IT support, systems administration, or laboratory operations. Experience with GIS or remote sensing software will be an asset.
Responsibilities include oversight and maintenance of laboratory equipment, troubleshooting IT issues, and supporting research and instructional activities (details endorsed under skills and attributes).
Skills And Attributes- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
- Proficient in the installation and configuration of specialised GIS software and servers
- Familiar with Windows networking, shared drives, and local area networking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High sense of responsibility and accountability
- Keen attention to details in maintaining logs and inventory records
Salary Scale: UA1: $304,602 – $467,527. Placement on Salary Scale will depend on level of qualification and relevant experience. Information on duties can be accessed from the Personnel Division.
