Job DescriptionThis internship offers an opportunity to learn how a technical department supports employees and maintains system functionality. You will assist with fundamental technical tasks, troubleshoot issues, and gain practical experience with computers, networks, and business systems.
Responsibilities- Assist coworkers with basic computer issues such as password resets and software problems.
- Set up and prepare laptops, desktops, and other equipment for new employees.
- Install and update software and operating systems.
- Support the IT team with everyday tasks and small projects.
- Track company technology equipment including computers and monitors.
- Learn the workings of networks and systems like Wi‑Fi and servers.
- Document common issues and solutions for future reference.
- Shadow IT team members to learn the planning and support of larger projects.
- Proficiency in Windows operating systems.
- Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Experience in hardware installation and software installs.
- Helpdesk troubleshooting skills.
- Understanding of network fundamentals.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Data entry proficiency.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of VMware and asset management.
- Basic understanding of Cisco network devices and user access.
Skills & Qualifications
- Willingness to learn and ask questions.
- Good communication skills and a helpful attitude.
- Experience with Windows OS administration.
- Ability to work with Windows 7, 10, and Windows Server environments.
- Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining computers and servers.
- Exposure to virtualization (VMware) and supporting virtual machine environments.
- Ability to support routers, switches, and wireless infrastructure.
- Ongoing monitoring, updates, and upkeep of IT systems.
- Experience in asset management, including tracking and managing IT equipment.
- Basic user access and security knowledge, including working with group policies and permissions.
The role is based in a modern and professional office environment with a large staff and many departments. The position requires interaction with various teams daily. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with potential overtime. The environment is typically moderate in noise, and while it is primarily office-based, it may involve time on the shop floor of a traditional engineering facility that includes processes such as pressing, metal forming, welding, painting, and warehousing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Loves Park, IL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
