Target Salary Range*: $59,150 - $106,925

The Implementations Network Engineer performs installation oversight, configuration, testing, monitoring, servicing of network equipment, and network activation for projects supporting Department of Defense networks.

• Perform customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance, reporting functions, and data input associated with new network equipment and service activations.
• Ensure new network equipment and service activations are implemented in accordance with Defense Information Systems Agency standards.
• Configure and maintain DISA’s out-of-band management network consisting of Cisco and Juniper devices using baseline configurations customized for each site.
• Upgrade software on Cisco and Juniper devices.

• Create and update project planning documentation to support selection and creation of IP addressing schemes, including subnet selection and equipment management IP selection.
• Assign ports on out-of-band management nodes.
• Perform systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional requirements in support of customer resources.
• Ensure all point-of-contact, location, and interface information is correct and formatted properly according to provided requirements.
• Verify correct points of contact for each location through which the circuit traverses.

• Engage with DISA project managers and/or customers to resolve issues with incomplete or unclear requirements.
• Reach out to stakeholders and facilitate approvals as necessary to ensure continual forward progress of service requests.

• Bachelor’s degree and 2–4 years of prior relevant experience; or
• Master’s degree with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

• Network engineering, problem management, and performance management experience.
• Knowledge of networking architecture, including evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities and performing needs assessments.
• Knowledge of data and voice network design carried over various transmission systems.
• Knowledge of router-to-router connections using military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS.
• Knowledge of switch-to-switch trunking, including VLANs, and circuit configurations through multiplexers.
• Experience with network services, including BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, and VRF.
• Experience with network appliances, including routers, load balancers, domain name servers, and firewalls.
• Knowledge of configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.

• Proficient knowledge of various network hardware equipment specifications, configuration and testing processes, and industry specifications.
• Ability to work in a team environment while being self-driven to complete assignments.

• DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification, such as Security+ CE or equivalent.

• Prior experience at DISA or knowledge of DISA systems and processes.
• Prior experience with SharePoint data entry, DDOE, or SharePoint order processing.
• Experience ordering services on behalf of the customer, including inputting service requests into DISA Storefront.
• Experience providing customer outreach on all orders to ensure accuracy of the point of contact, location, and interface.
