Duties As a Information Technology (IT) Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
* Provide threat information to the USTRANSCOM Counter-Insider Threat Branch (TCCS-I); develop indicators of compromise using standards-based approaches.
* Conduct user and system activity monitoring to detect internal and external threats.
* Review, interpret, and develop localized Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) based upon best practices, national guidance, and DoD-level policies.
* Coordinate with IT and Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP) specialists across USTRANSCOM to develop, publish, and share threat profiles and indicators of compromise.
* Use data correlation, visualization, filtering, searching, data inspection, and trending techniques to identify patterns and behaviors indicative of both internal and external cyber threats.
* Provide technical knowledge and expertise to the Counterintelligence (CI) and Law Enforcement (LE) communities to aid in the identification and assessment of cyber threat capabilities and activities; produce findings to help initialize or support CI and LE investigations or activities. * This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP)
* This position may include information assurance (IA) work as an additional duty. Per DoD 8140 the recipient of this additional duty must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months
* Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/ vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location
* May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hour Qualifications You may qualify at the GS GS1 , if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service as listed below:
* Applying computer network defense concepts and processes to computer network and systems sufficient to identify, respond to, and eliminate cyber threat indicators and indicators of compromise from multiple sources and varying incident types.
* Providing computer security incident response including countermeasure mitigation strategies, malware analysis, network traffic analysis, and network system analysis.
* Utilizing computer network defense and vulnerability assessment tools including commercial and open source tools, network traffic analysis tools, identification and authentication technologies, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools, firewalls, malicious code identification tools, intrusion detection/prevention tools, proxies, email security filters and/or vulnerability scanning tools In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 2210 series.
