Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter – Zurich E&S

Zurich is currently hiring an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter to join our E&S Property team. The position is available in Chicago, IL;
Atlanta, GA;
New York City, NY; and Dallas, TX. It can also be performed on a hybrid basis with the flexibility to work in the office or on the market three days per week.

• Serve as a customer industry advocate focused on improving the customer experience by understanding risk and offering the best end‑to‑end solution for insurance needs.
• Use a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing.
• Apply risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at the point of sale.
• Engage in market‑facing and production activities within the E&S Standard Property group.
• Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ year of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Knowledge of lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Experience in E&S Property Underwriting or Underwriting Support.
• Strong negotiation skills and wholesale broker relationships nationwide.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office skills.

Compensation is based on role, location, skills, and experience. The combined salary range for this position is $75,000.00 – $. The Underwriting Specialist range is $75,000.00 – $ with a 10% short‑term incentive bonus. The Executive Underwriter range is $98,500.00 – $ with a 30% Global Specialty Incentive Plan bonus.
