Overview
Talent Fish is casting a line for an SPM OES Specialist to join our client's operations team in the Woodridge, Illinois area.
This role is responsible for coordinating contract packaging, supplier performance, production planning, inventory management, and packaging activities supporting Original Equipment Service, or OES, and aftermarket customers. The SPM OES Specialist will serve as a key liaison between customers, suppliers, contract packaging partners, and internal departments to ensure products are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
What You Bring to the Role
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field, or at least 3 years of relevant supply chain or packaging experience.
- Experience with inventory planning, production scheduling, supplier coordination, and supply chain operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.
- Ability to analyze supply and demand and support production and inventory planning activities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail, accountability, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and collaborate across departments and external business partners.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality management systems.
- Experience conducting supplier audits or second-party audits.
- Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility, consumer labeling, and other packaging regulations within the United States and Canada.
- Experience monitoring supply and demand and adjusting master planning parameters.
- Experience managing component inventory to maintain production continuity and prevent slow-moving or excess inventory.
- Experience supporting packaging development, artwork revisions, new product launches, or supplier qualification activities.
What You'll Do
Supplier and Contract Packager Management
- Monitor supplier and contract packager performance, including inventory levels, production schedules, and on-time shipment metrics.
- Prepare and distribute monthly supplier and packaging partner performance scorecards.
- Maintain weekly open-order reports by reviewing customer demand, inventory availability, and scheduled production.
- Support the onboarding and implementation of new packaging facilities and suppliers.
- Assist with process-based second-party audits of suppliers and contract packaging partners.
- Participate in new product launch audits and supplier qualification activities.
- Coordinate the resolution of supplier invoice discrepancies with the Accounting team.
- Investigate supplier and packager nonconformances, facilitate root-cause analysis, and monitor corrective actions.
- Maintain current supplier and contract packaging pricing information.
Production Planning and Inventory Management
- Schedule and coordinate production activities for non-turnkey contract packaging operations.
- Purchase and manage component inventory for non-turnkey packaging partners.
- Monitor inventory levels to maintain uninterrupted production and meet inventory performance objectives.
- Identify and help prevent slow-moving, obsolete, and excess inventory.
- Complete monthly and annual inventory reconciliations with suppliers and packaging partners.
- Analyze and update monthly packaging sales reports to identify trends and support forecasting.
- Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of master planning processes.
- Monitor supply and demand and adjust master planning parameters as needed.
Packaging Development and Regulatory Compliance
- Create, maintain, and control packaging specifications and related documentation.
- Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, provincial, and local regulations affecting product packaging.
