Position Summary
The Business Manager reports to the Director of Business and Finance for Academic Affairs and is a key member of the central Academic Affairs Business and Finance team. Responsibilities include comprehensive business, finance and HCM oversight for Lifelong Learning, Leader verse, and Sands Institute for Chinese Language and Culture, as well as business services and operations under the purview of the Executive Director for Lifelong Learning and the Director of Business and Finance for Academic Affairs.
The Business Manager works closely with the Executive Director for Lifelong Learning to support the Lifelong Learning mission and ensures efficient, effective long‑term and short‑term planning, use, management, reporting, projection and implementation of Lifelong Learning resources. The role serves as liaison between college and unit business officers and finance managers across campus, coordinating HR and personnel matters including budgeting, recruiting, hiring, terminating, and personnel changes.
The Business Manager provides senior leadership with the necessary reports and information to support decision‑making and ensures compliance with university policy and procedures.
- Oversee budgeting and financial processes using Workday and Student Manager for budgeting, travel, purchasing, and other financial activities; ensure responsible spending activity and compliance with account policies and NSHE guidelines.
- Maintain, update, and effectively utilize budgets, finances, and personnel transactions for the Lifelong Learning unit, providing structure, consistency, tracking, monitoring, and procedural oversight.
- Coordinate and execute a myriad of department HR and personnel matters, including personnel budgeting, recruiting, hiring, terminating, and personnel management.
- Provide senior leadership with timely reports and information needed for decision‑making.
- Support Lifelong Learning mission with long‑ and short‑term planning and resource implementation.
- Act as liaison between business officers, finance managers, and external offices to ensure compliance and alignment with Academic Affairs policy.
- Engage in occasional evenings, weekends, or travel as required by administrative faculty positions.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 3 to 5 years of related experience in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, or a related field.
- 1 to 3 years of supervisory experience.
- 1 to 3 years of management experience.
- Credentials obtained prior to employment start date.
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- 5 to 7 years of related experience in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience.
- 3 to 5 years of management experience.
- Documented higher‑education budget experience.
- Ability to manage complex job tasks with overlapping or concurrent deadlines.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple project timelines.

SalaryPosition is contingent upon funding. Salary is competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
