Job Summary:

As a Heavy Equipment Operator at Scotts Miracle Gro, you will be responsible for preparing organic mixes using a heavy equipment loader. This role involves pushing piles to ensure the segregation of materials and placing materials in the shakers to ensure a continuous flow of material for the machines. It requires operating and maintaining heavy equipment (loader/dozer), maintaining stockpile slopes for a safe work environment, and working in dusty, hot, or cold environments.

Proficiency in reading English and/or following instructions and effective communication.

Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions, including dust, hot/cold weather, and rain.

Availability for mandatory overtime, including weekends and holidays.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



Prepare organic mixes using the Bill of Materials to ensure correct ingredients and proportions.

Supply the production line with a continuous flow of material.

Push piles to ensure setbacks, pile height, and stockpile shaping meet Department of Environmental Health Services criteria.

Perform safety and equipment checks before each use of the loader.

Receive load tickets from haulers, verify accuracy, sign, accumulate until the end of the day, and forward the tickets in a neat and clean appearance to office personnel for inventory entry.

Pump diesel fuel into the loader using an electrical pump while adhering to safety practices.

Monitor stockpiles for excessive heat, turn stockpiles, and ensure the proper amount of water is used to prepare them for production use.

Meet quality and quantity standards.

Perform proper operation and minor maintenance of equipment.

Accurately verify the quantity of material.
