Job Purpose
Operation of a machine in a production shop environment working with steel materials for the production of railroad tracks and crossings.
CNC Machine Operator pay starts at $19-22.00 with a $1.00 increase after one year. Quarterly incentive bonus for production may be available if goals are met.
Key Job ElementsThere is currently a day shift opening for a Machine Operator at our Trackwork manufacturing plant in Alorton, Illinois.
Schedule:
Monday‑Thursday 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.;
Friday 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (approximately 7 hours); overtime as needed.
- Minimum 6 months of manufacturing and/or machine operator experience
- Ability to multitask; work with minimal supervision
- Must read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy
- Must read and use tape measure
- Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices
- Quality‑oriented and team player
- Complete understanding of safe work practices
- Strength – Ability to lift up to 35 lbs repeatedly
- Motion – Stand majority of shift, kneel, squat, and climb steps multiple times
- Vision/Hearing – Must see and hear parts as they are machined, detect deficiencies and machinery malfunctions, and communicate effectively
- Work Environment – Mostly indoors, non‑temperature‑controlled, exposed to oils, lubricants, and other machining substances
- Emotional Demands – Vigilant to ensure safety, make decisions on proper machine operation
- Safety – Follow all safety procedures, policies, and PPE requirements (hand, head, eye, ear, and foot protection)
High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
