Position Title: Machine Operator-Cutting Room

Location: Arcola, IL

Starting Minimum Pay: $19.00 per hour

Hours: FIRST SHIFT, MONDAY - FRIDAY 7am - 3:30pm + Mandatory OT & Saturdays during peak season

The Herff Jones Cap and Gown team, based in Arcola, IL, is looking for a Seasonal Machine Operator to join our team.

• Help off-load and label cut parts to appropriate table for manufacturing
• Hand cuts all product lines with proficiency as needed
• Required to operate the Forklift
• Knowledge of basic math
• Inspect material and product styles to ensure they correspond to the cutting ticket
• Spread cloth on cutting tables using various manual and automated spreading machines
• Maintain material and spreading quality standards
• Record material and time usage
• Perform general operator asset care
• Operate the slicing and rewinding machine efficiently and safely
• Keep the manufacturing floor stocked with sliced material
• Stage appropriate sliced materials
• Maintain Material Room organization, housekeeping, and cleanliness

• Reading, writing, and math skills commensurate with job duties
• Self-motivated
• Proficiency with Oracle, Excel, Word, and email
• Physical strength and dexterity to perform essential job functions
• Ability to lift up to 90 pounds
• Ability to recognize colors and different styles of cloth
• Standing for 8 hours a day or longer during peak seasons
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
• Willingness to work all mandatory overtime
