Job Overview
Materials Inspector I –
Location:
Granite City, IL – Fully on‑site.
Hours:
Mon – Fri 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Pay: $22/hr – $24/hr pay schedule:
Weekly. Role:
Responsible for weighing and grading materials, ensuring accurate shipping/receiving and inventory records.
- Coordinate unloading of materials and ensure accuracy of material weights.
- Coordinate loading of material with proper weight distribution.
- Give clear instructions to other team members.
- Navigate within the company database.
- Handle receiving or shipping of domestic and international materials.
- Develop material knowledge using available tools and resources.
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.
- Maintain the cleanliness and accuracy of scale equipment and dock areas.
- Complete daily reports, maintain logs, spreadsheets, and other records, as assigned.
- Perform other duties with flexibility to work in other departments as needed.
- Standing, walking, negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms.
- Walking over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
- Exposure to production environments that are not temperature‑controlled.
- Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools.
- Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
- Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Work independently and as a team, in a safe and efficient manner, following safety policies and procedures.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations; wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
- Use of a respirator may be required; must be medically cleared, fit‑tested, and qualified to wear a respirator when applicable.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint or equivalent.
- Experience working with computerized scale systems and similar software and equipment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Self‑motivated with problem‑solving skills.
- Understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Attend schedule dependably and consistently.
- Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
- Maintain safety as a high priority in all aspects of responsibility.
