Position Summary

Set up and operate pleater equipment to pleat filter paper according to prescribed methods, transport raw materials to/from production line, in order to produce filter elements to production order specifications. Perform secondary functions such as operating other equipment, stock chasing, etc. May perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Checks materials brought to the line to ensure correct materials are being used and that they are of good quality (paint color/consistency, type, quality, and size of paper as well as type and quality of other component parts).
  • Prepares pleater equipment for operation, i.e. sets guides, height, number of pleats, oven speed and temperature, etc. Changes equipment over when necessary.
  • Starts pleater equipment and observes pleating for conformance to order specifications. Feeds paper into pleater ensuring a smooth, continuous flow of paper to the line.
  • Transports raw materials to/from production line. Loads reels of paper onto spindles  stack parts in/out of boxes on lines making sure parts are available to assemblers and loads/unloads conveyors that feed parts to the assembly station.
  • In addition to pleater operation, may also have other responsibilities, including set up, operation and monitoring of equipment such as welders, stock chasing, palletizing, etc. These secondary responsibilities will differ depending on the area assigned. Encourages teamwork and assists in various areas to promote production efficiency.
  • Performs regular quality checks to ensure product meets established quality standards and customer requirements. Performs necessary inventory of materials on hand and notifies appropriate individual when levels become low.
  • Interprets/completes various forms of paperwork involving production, scrap, and returns.
  • Keeps area free of trash and debris, i.e., breaks down boxes, empties trash and scrap containers, sweeps area around pleaters, etc.
  • Follows all safety procedures and safe working procedures.
  • Utilizes PM, TPM, and predictive techniques and equipment to maintain equipment and tooling in good working condition. Schedules and performs machine tear down to make repairs and modifications.
  • Monitors work in progress and makes suggestion improvements, keeps supervisor/team leader informed to any problems associated with production and takes action to provide support for resolution of problems and continuous improvement. Promotes teamwork. May have to train new members in operations, paperwork, etc.
