Overview
Job Title: Flat Welder
Basic Purpose of the Position: To provide the highest quality, safety, and performance standards within grade in the Flat Welding department.
Responsibilities- Maintain production schedule
- Weld Black, Galvanized and Stainless Steel at the highest quality
- Mig weld meeting all quality and quantity standards
- Maintain a safe and clean work area
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance PMs as the operator’s responsibility
- Complete all production and quality documentation
- Assist in all other departments as required
- Maintain a high quality of weld appearance
- Maintain a high production rate within the skill level averaging 85% and above
- Make quality checks to ensure materials, parts and workmanship are compliant with engineering requirements and production expectations
- Demonstrate superior service skills and professionalism with coworkers; set a good example in attendance and work ethics
- Willingness to learn
- Successfully performed as an entry level welder for one year minimum
- Continually demonstrate good attendance practices, minimizing unplanned absences
- Adhere to company policies and work rules; maintain a safe work environment
- Maintain a cheerful and positive attitude
- Strive to continually improve quality, safety, and productivity within the department
- Understand and follow all MAPs, PAPs, CRN, B31.5, ASME, TMIs, TPIs, and SOPs pertaining to the product
- Complete all documents pertaining to the process
- Safe operation of overhead cranes and jib booms
- Determine good weld quality during welding and make corrections as needed
- Assist in other areas of the shop when needed
- Maintain the ability to recertify as needed (Structural Certifications)
- Mentor less experienced welders
- Basic shop math (add/subtract/divide/multiply, whole numbers and fractions)
- Read a tape measure to within 1/16”
- A general understanding of common hand tools
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Able to read and understand engineering prints related to the process
- Maintain the required welder certification within the skill level
Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment
- Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, and lifting
- Wear PPE in manufacturing areas
- Shift work: days or evenings, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays and Sundays
- Job progression: assisting in planning of the department in the supervisor’s absence, including department reporting, setup, and flow of production within the shift and for the next shift
- Salary range consists of base pay and most recent profit sharing bonus
