Elwood, IL, US, 60421 Stepan is currently seeking a Mechanic for our Millsdale Plant located in Elwood, Illinois. The Mechanic will provide maintenance support to production areas to assure stable operations and provide continuous improvement. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of the Mechanic Mechanic (E&I) is to provide electrical, electronic, mechanical and technical support to production areas to ensure stable operations, and provide continuous improvement while promoting safe work practices for maintaining day-to-day operations as a technical resource.
- Perform field calibration of process instrumentation.
- Complete the installation of new instrumentation, controls and power wiring systems including conduit.
- Configure and program process instrumentation and VFD's (variable frequency drive).
- Perform chemical line breaks per procedures including flange joint assembly.
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment to determine repair process.
- Navigate CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) as well as write follow up work.
- Train with an experienced journeyman to augment first 6 months of apprentice program.
- Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulations.
- General housekeeping duties as assigned by the E&I Maintenance Execution Manager.
- Participate and maintain compliance related activities including internal and external audits for applicable standards and certifications such as ISO 9001:2015, EFfCI, FSSC 22000, Kosher, Halal, RSPO, ISCC+ and others.
Work Experience:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of mechanical experience or preferred education.
• Successfully pass mechanical aptitude test.
• Successfully complete 6 required maintenance apprenticeship courses within 3 years.
• Experience with control circuits, PLC logic, and instrumentation calibration is preferred.
• Ability to analyze, problem solve, and think strategically to solve equipment issues and determine root cause failures.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
