Job Summary

The Wide Format Print Operator produces high quality prints from a number of wide format printers, ensuring color accuracy and high quality output in a quick turnaround. The Operator will follow a job from the prepress phase through finishing as required, utilizing various machines and equipment. Will regularly lift large, awkward sheets and rolls of material up to 50lbs. Multitasking is key as the operator will be printing on multiple printers and finishing machines at the same time.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain latex roll printer, aqueous roll printer, roll laminator, plotter, flatbed UV printer, flatbed CNC, and other equipment as needed.
  • Set up and proof files using RIP software, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Inspect and adjust print settings for clarity, color accuracy, and quality.
  • Read and understand job ticket information.
  • Communicate with supervisor and customer service team to understand priorities, print requirements, and provide recommendations.
  • Schedule and organize jobs so they are produced quickly and efficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and address minor equipment issues.
  • Use graphic tools and chemicals to safely fabricate products.
  • Provide quality control for wide format and sign projects.
  • Package finished jobs and hand off to delivery in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory, ink levels, and tool condition.
  • Maintain machine logs and document work performed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist other operators, prepress, installers, and other areas as needed or when slow.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in graphic arts, printing technology, or a related field is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of printing industry experience in wide format printing and finishing or prepress.
  • Experience with flatbed router/CNC, roll printer (aqueous, latex, UV), UV flatbed printer, plotter/cutter.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Familiarity with RIP software and other print-related software tools.
  • Ability to work with a variety of substrates and understand unique printing requirements for each.
  • Experience fabricating signs and working with spot colors and spot printing.
  • Regularly lift 15 lbs; periodically lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to work independently and safely.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to quality standards.
  • Experience in other areas of printing such as screen printing, dye sublimation, laser engraving, roll‑to‑roll printing, plotter operation, DTG printing, lamination, etc. is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
  • Print Operator, I – requires little to no related experience (Job Code: S22751).
  • Print Operator, II – requires at least 1 year of related experience (Job Code: S22752).
  • Print Operator, III – requires 3+ years of related experience (Job Code: S22753).
