Join our harvest team and help keep grain moving during one of the busiest seasons in agriculture. As a Seasonal Grain Elevator Operator, you will support daily operations and play an important role in serving local farmers. This role is primarily at a facility that loads and unloads trucks and involves a variety of duties based on daily operation needs.

Responsibilities
  • Fully participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Perform duties in compliance with OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations (ISO where applicable); wear appropriate PPE for the task.
  • Transfer, load and move grain to appropriate locations.
  • Maintain grain quality during storage and transfer.
  • Weigh trucks and grade grain where applicable.
  • Complete documentation timely, accurately and legibly.
  • General clean-up duties including sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting and other housekeeping tasks.
  • Operate, monitor and shut down dryer as required where applicable.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and/or repairs where applicable.
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment where applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education

  • Required – High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

  • Required – None.
  • Preferred – 1 year of experience in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Ability to complete documentation requirements.
  • Ability to follow directions and use logical thought to interpret oral and written instructions and troubleshoot problems.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to use tools appropriate for the assigned task.
  • Ability to maintain focus on exceptional customer service, both internally and externally.
Physical Demands & Requirements
  • Ability to balance continually/constantly.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, crawl, kneel and squat frequently.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at significant heights.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks without distraction.
  • Ability to distinguish grain grade, color, odor and damage characteristics (at some facilities).
  • Ability to interpret and differentiate odors and other sensory cues as needed.
  • Ability to enter information into a computer and use observation records.
  • Ability to grasp and reach frequently.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. occasionally to continuously, depending on daily needs.
  • Ability to meet PPE requirements and pass PFT/fit testing where applicable.
  • Ability to pass required testing under FRA and DOT for this position where applicable.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and on equipment such as railcars and barges where applicable.
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and/or alternate shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions and in environments with high dust levels around grain.
