JOB SUMMARY:

Perform all tasks required to set up, operate, and maintain the extruder. Duties include ordering paper, verifying scheduling, loading paper rolls, panel operation, unloading produced rolls, preparing for shutdowns and startups, performing changeovers, maintaining daily production reports, trouble‑shooting problems, monitoring and flagging quality conditions of rolls produced, working safely and obeying all safety rules.

WORK DEVICES:

Mechanical hand tools, power tools, air hoses, scrapers, cleaning equipment, solvents, utility knife, lock‑out tags and locks, computer keyboard, production forms, lift trucks, chain hoists, and logbooks.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

• Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner.
• Be engaged, involved;
  Participate in safety meetings and safety tours.
• Ensure equipment meets safety standards, monitoring throughout the shift.
• Observe, mitigate and/or report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Produce products consistent with established food safety, sanitation, and quality standards.
• Order paper rolls from warehouse to support daily production schedule. Verify rolls staged are consistent with current paper specification sheet for scheduled production for both Delta 1 & 2.
• Verify proper data is entered in computer for current production at start of each shift for Delta #2.
• Stage rolls by pushing, removing bands, removing core plugs, cutting off roll I.D. tickets, removing outer wraps and indicating number of wraps cut, checking rolls for correct size and basis weight.
• Complete shut‑down and start‑up procedures.
• Load rolls and move to machine unwind position to load rolls onto machine, apply splice glue, tape, and align new roll to match expiring roll position.
• After splice is made, cut off remaining butt wraps on expired core and record number on roll report.
• Monitor control panel and quality constantly, adjust and correct the extruder to produce quality rolls, proper line, adhesion, and coat weights. Respond to all alarms and take corrective action.
• Verify all support equipment is operating properly (flame treaters, water pumps, chillers, trim exhaust, corona treater, coat weight scanner, gravimetric hoppers, etc.).
• Adjust extruder operating parameters to produce rolls of good quality (dyne level, adhesion, profile, flat edges, no edge trim or missing poly).
• Monitor the Whitlock system to keep surge bin full and draw resin from proper silo. Monitor floor rates to extruder hoppers to keep…
