Trade Strategy and Marketing at Abb Vie has evolved from an operations‑focused role to one that requires developing complex distribution and pharmacy strategies for all specialty and retail products across the Abb Vie portfolio.

As part of this evolution, Abb Vie has a significant foothold in high‑value specialty brands across neurology, immunology, oncology, and eye care. The Associate Director, Trade Strategy and Marketing – Retail will partner with key pharmacy and channel stakeholders to optimize stakeholder experience, ensure access to Abb Vie products, and support patient adherence.

This role will work across the portfolio, including neuroscience, eye care, US specialty, and new product launches, and will collaborate both internally and externally to navigate trade complexities and challenges.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development and implementation of brand‑specific trade strategies with specialty and retail pharmacies to ensure medication access and enhance patient experience.
  • Identify new, strategic channel partners and programs to support innovation and evolving patient needs.
  • Execute launch excellence in the trade channel, contributing to launch planning and ensuring seamless, on‑time supply for new product launches.
  • Serve as trade lead in collaboration with brand and cross‑functional partners to drive initiatives and manage supply disruptions.
  • Develop and execute brand value propositions for trade across product life cycles.
  • Create high‑impact promotional materials for the pharmacy account team aligned with trade and brand objectives.
  • Lead the annual strategic planning process for key brands.
  • Represent trade on neuroscience and eye care integrated brand teams or launch readiness teams.
  • Manage relationships with internal partners such as brand, payer, customer service, demand planning, and trade account teams.
  • Manage strategic agency partnerships and lead strategy execution across therapeutic areas.
  • Analyze and synthesize complex pharmacy data sets to inform strategic decisions.
  • Participate in special trade strategic projects such as specialty at‑retail opportunities.
  • Promote trade marketing culture by fostering an inclusive, agile, and transparent community.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least 7 years tenure in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Experience in market access and contract negotiation.
  • Preferred pharmacy/wholesale experience.
  • Marketing experience, including launch experience, preferred.
  • Knowledge of marketing concepts and strategic planning processes.
  • Understanding of market research principles and data analysis.
  • Relationships within specialty, retail pharmacy, and distribution channels preferred.
  • Program management experience within pharmacy and distribution channels.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional project management.
  • Positive, solutions‑oriented, customer‑centric mindset.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting pharmaceutical products.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The compensation range described below reflects the possible base pay range based on the job grade and may vary with location and other factors.
