Area Director - Champaign, IL

Overview

Full‑time staff member serving in a Young Life Area, responsible for spiritual and leadership development for children and volunteers, coordinating ministry programs, fundraising, and administrative support.

• Lead spiritual development, including prayer, fellowship, spiritual disciplines, and youth growth.
• Develop and implement a yearly personal growth plan for enhanced spiritual life.
• Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers and staff, building leadership teams that reflect the community.
• Coordinate fundraising, donor care, public relations, and financial support for ministry operations.
• Plan and execute contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp ministries on a weekly and seasonal basis.
• Maintain ministry data, finance, and internal communications with professionalism and transparency.
• Set, review, and adjust strategic ministry plans and initiatives to meet annual goals.
• Serve on an annual summer camp assignment to model ministry values.
• Assist in training sessions, professional development, and leadership workshops.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support area needs.

• College degree preferred.
• Experience in direct ministry with children and adults.
• Strong relational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Must sign the Young Life Statement of Faith.

New staff completes Core Training Phase One, which includes Leadership I, Leadership II, Apologetics, and a Winter Training course within the first two years of employment.

Work environments include camping areas with extreme temperatures, uneven terrain, long hours, and physical demands such as hiking, horseback riding, and boating.
