Job Overview

First Baptist Church of Greenfield (Greenfield, IL) is seeking a Pastor to lead, preach, and shepherd the congregation. The Pastor will minister from a place of faith, apply biblical principles, and work in partnership with the board, deacons, and committees to advance the church’s mission and vision.

The Pastor is accountable to God, the congregation, the Denomination, the Board of Deacons, the Trustees, and the Church Board. He will report to the Diaconate and participate in annual performance reviews to determine merit increases.

• Preaching – Provide inspiring, relevant sermons grounded in Scripture.
• Interpreting the Faith – Communicate a clear understanding of the Bible for Christian living.
• Evangelism – Seek opportunities to share the gospel.
• Leadership – Clarify God’s vision and guide the congregation in its implementation.
• Visitation – Maintain personal relationships with church members and others in their homes, workplaces, or other settings.
• Church Growth – Develop the ministry vision and increase the church membership through outreach and discipleship.

• Definite personal calling to ministry and belief in all commonly accepted Biblical principles.
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate core church programs.
• Demonstrated strengths in personal integrity, moral conduct, trustworthiness, and interpersonal skills.
• Professional theological education or equivalent experience in ministry.
• Commitment to ongoing spiritual growth and learning.

The employment agreement will cover ministry-related expenses, time off, vacation, personal leave, extended illness policy, holidays, continuing education, and moving expenses. Compensation will be agreed upon upon hire and may be reviewed annually as part of the church’s employment policy.
