The Staff Family Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant is responsible for primary care, focusing on wellness promotion and illness prevention of the patient. Ages served range from adolescent to geriatric.
Qualifications- Licensure
:
Currently licensed in the State of Illinois as a Registered Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant and BLS certified. - Experience
:
Minimum 1–3 years preferred. - Education & Training
:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Master’s Degree as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. Must complete all continuing education requirements in accordance with the Advanced Nursing Practice Act. - Technical Knowledge
:
General knowledge of Electronic Medical Record systems. - Special Skills
:
Sound leadership abilities, ability to work under stressful situations, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate with patients, physicians, staff, families, and ancillary personnel in a positive manner, and commitment to collaborating with a supervising physician.

Understanding of budgeting and financial stewardship. - Equipment Management
:
Responsible for maintenance, use, and care of all clinical, office, and administrative equipment. - Patient Care
:
Provide advanced nursing assessment, diagnosis, and treatment; perform procedures on the skills list; order and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests; prescribe and dispense controlled substances within collaborating physician limits; offer palliative and end‑of‑life care; provide counseling, education, and advocacy; maintain patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA. - Communication
:
Maintain good interdepartmental relationships, comply with policies, develop effective communication mechanisms with staff, physicians, and patients, investigate and report incidents promptly, and follow established chain of command. - Nursing Process
:
Ensure practices align with policies, review staff assignments, and demonstrate clinical expertise. - Planning and Governance
:
Serve on health system committees, attend meetings, assess clinic needs, establish priorities, review goals, and ensure standards are adhered to. - Quality Assurance
:
Respond to quality care issues, participate in QA committees, conduct patient care conferences, ensure safety and environmental standards, and protect patient and staff rights. - Personal Growth
:
Assume responsibility for professional development, attend educational programs, stay knowledgeable of emergency plans, and support the mission of the hospital.
The role operates in a well‑lit, well‑ventilated environment, with occasional exposure to infectious diseases and other environmental elements. Flexibility to respond to emergency situations is required.
