Registered Nurse

Methodist Health System is seeking a dedicated full-time Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department within our Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients experiencing a wide range of urgent and life-threatening conditions. You will work in a fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment, collaborating closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and an experienced multidisciplinary healthcare team.

In this role, you will be responsible for rapid triage, ongoing assessment, and evidence-based nursing interventions for patients of all ages presenting with medical, surgical, and trauma-related emergencies. You will perform comprehensive patient assessments, initiate and monitor IV therapies, administer medications safely, interpret and respond to cardiac and vital sign monitoring, and provide wound care and other emergency procedures within your scope of practice.

Using sound clinical judgment and critical thinking, you will prioritize multiple patients, respond to changes in condition, and increase care when necessary.

The Registered Nurse will coordinate and document all aspects of patient care using our Electronic Health Record, ensuring accurate, timely, and thorough charting that supports continuity of care. You will collaborate closely with physicians and the care team to develop and implement individualized care plans, participate in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and support safe, efficient patient throughput from arrival to discharge or admission.

Additional responsibilities include educating patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care; reinforcing discharge instructions; and providing emotional support during stressful and often traumatic situations.

Candidates should bring prior critical care or emergency nursing experience, strong assessment and triage skills, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations. A current RN license in the state of Texas (or compact eligibility) is required, along with current BLS certification and ACLS or the ability to obtain it within a defined timeframe after hire. PALS and TNCC are highly valued.
