Position: CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT (CNA)
Location: Fairfield

NATURE OF WORK Fairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to join our Med/Surg team. CNAs play an essential role in delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care by supporting patients with daily needs, promoting comfort, and helping maintain a therapeutic environment. Working under the supervision of a RN or LPN, the CNA contributes to effective care delivery through timely communication, accurate documentation, and attentive observation of patient condition.

The CNA provides direct and supportive care to patients on the Med/Surg Unit under the supervision of an RN or LPN. This role assists patients with activities of daily living, mobility, hygiene, nutrition, and comfort measures while maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. The CNA contributes to accurate documentation, timely communication, and high‑quality patient care by observing and reporting changes in patient condition.

This position plays an essential role in supporting the nursing team and ensuring an exceptional patient experience consistent with FMH’s mission and standards of care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide assistance with serving meals and feeding; providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.

Provide assistance in personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves; assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and baths.

Provide assistance in ambulating, turning, and positioning residents.

Maintain resident stability by checking vital signs and weight; recording intake and output information.

Provide for resident comfort by utilizing resources and materials; answering call lights and requests; reporting observations of the residents to the nursing supervisor.

Document actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

Protect privacy and dignity by keeping patient information confidential; comply with HIPAA guidelines and related laws.

Adhere to professional standards, company policies and procedures, and all federal, state, and local requirements, including JCAHO standards, when applicable.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; participating in professional organizations; and maintaining licensure.

COMPENSATION: $20.00 - $28.50 per hour + Shift Differential (Weekday Night: $1.00 per hour; Weekend: $2.00 per hour)

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

High school graduate or equivalent;
Completion of an accredited training program for Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Illinois; BLS Certification.

EXPERIENCE Preferred: 1+ years experience as CNA.SKILLSAbility to read, write, speak and understand the English language.

Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programs

Ability to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner

Excellent communication and customer service skills
