* NATURE OF WORKFairfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a compassionate, dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Med/Surg team. This role plays a vital part in delivering safe, high quality, patient centered care across the lifespan. Med/Surg nurses at FMH provide direct patient care, support patient and family education, and collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, effective care.

The RN is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process. This includes patient assessment, teaching, and coordination of care with ancillary personnel, while maintaining the highest standards of practice. RNs in Med/Surg provide care for patients across the lifespan.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide safe, effective patient care using the nursing process

Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians

Perform emergency and resuscitative treatment as needed

Supervise LPNs, aides, and ancillary staff; review and sign off on documentation

Participate in orientation of new personnel and ongoing continuing education

Engage in discharge planning and patient/family education using the teach-back method

Maintain accurate computerized charting and medication administration records

Demonstrate professionalism in dress, hygiene, and patient interactions

Participate in Quality Management/Performance Improvement activities

Uphold hospital policies, procedures, and standards of service excellenceCOMPENSATION: $34.00 – $46.50 per hour

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing;
Registered Nurse license in the state of Illinois; BLS, ACLS, PALS certification (or willing to obtain within 6 months).Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in NursingEXPERIENCEPreferred:
Prior Med/Surg or ICU nursing experience.

SKILLS Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills

Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with patients, families, physicians, and staff

Ability to administer medications and treatments safely and accurately

Competence in patient transfers, lifting, and mobility support

Commitment to professionalism, teamwork, and patient centered care
