The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Union Grove (WVHUG) is seeking a 60% FTE Nurse Clinician 3, to serve as the NOC Shift (10:30 p.m.

- 7 a.m.) Charge Nurse on a care team. The Home is a 24/7/365 long-term care facility that specializes in providing comfort, support, and professional healthcare services to elderly or disabled veterans and their spouses. Our facility is in Racine County, a short drive from Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Position Summary

This Nurse Clinician 3 job is a highly responsible advanced-level professional nursing position that provides management of direct care activities and oversight of personnel at WVHUG when first-line supervisors are absent. The position functions as the Administrative Charge Nurse, assuming facility-wide responsibility for nursing staff, services and activities. The incumbent performs administrative duties under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor (DON) and with direction from the Assistant DON and Veterans Home Administrator.

Salary

Information

Starting salary will be between $55.00 - $57.23 per hour, depending on candidate qualifications.

Nurse Clinician 3 is in pay schedule-pay range 11-01. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current State employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan.

A twelve-month probationary period will be required.

Job Details

This position is 60% FTE and the hours are 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a criminal background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas.

WDVA participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

The required credential is:

  • Wisconsin Registered Nurse license by the date of hire

In addition to the license, required qualifications that will be reviewed in the first step of the process are experience:

  • providing nursing care to patients in long-term care

Qualifications that will be reviewed in subsequent steps of the process include experience:

  • in a team lead or project lead role*
  • providing education/training to staff or patients*
  • using Point-Click-Care
  • with critical thinking
  • in a formal lead worker role
