Dakota CUSD #201 is seeking qualified Substitute School Nurses to provide health services and support to students during the absence of the regularly assigned school nurse. The substitute nurse helps maintain a safe and healthy school environment by addressing student health needs, administering medications as authorized, responding to medical situations, and maintaining accurate health records in accordance with district policies and Illinois State Board of Education requirements.
EssentialDuties And Responsibilities
- Provide nursing services to students in accordance with Illinois school health regulations and district procedures
- Assess and respond to student illnesses, injuries, and health concerns
- Administer medications and treatments as authorized by physician orders and parent/guardian consent
- Maintain accurate student health documentation and confidentiality of records
- Communicate with school staff, parents/guardians, and medical providers as appropriate
- Assist with management of chronic health conditions and emergency care plans
- Participate in emergency response and crisis situations as needed
- Ensure compliance with state health requirements and district policies
- Perform other duties as assigned related to student health services
- Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license required
- Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Nurse endorsement preferred, or qualifications consistent with Illinois substitute school nurse requirements
- Current CPR/AED certification preferred
- Ability to work effectively with students, staff, families, and administrators
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- School setting with frequent interaction with students, staff, and families
- Ability to respond to medical emergencies and student health needs throughout the school day
