Quality Control Laboratory Technician (Cordova, IL)
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government, or military experience to a 3M career.
The Impact You’ll Make in this Role- Support product quality, product development, process scale‑ups, or production processes by learning and performing elementary tests, measurements, and tasks for experimentation and/or production.
- The technician will also gain understanding and assist in the development of quality standards and test procedures in order to inspect materials, in‑process, or final products to ensure 3M quality standards are met.
- This position is a 12‑hour shift rotating position at the Cordova plant.
- Conducting analysis of samples with minimal supervision and report results.
- Supporting QC lab process improvement initiatives.
- Supporting product validations and optimizations.
- Utilizing LIMS and other Computer Systems.
- Documenting all test results.
- Maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Participating in quality improvement programs.
- Maintaining/improving testing cycle times for QC.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution completed and verified prior to start.
- Minimum of one (1) year of quality control technician experience.
- Associates/Two Year Technical degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a chemical operator, laboratory technician or combination of both.
- Understanding of basic concepts of measurement systems, testing, and calibration.
- Working knowledge of the basic quality tools (check sheets, process flow diagrams, cause‑and‑effect, histograms, Pareto charts, scatter diagrams, run charts) and general awareness of a consistent problem‑solving methodology, such as the "7 Step Problem Solving Method".
- Experience working with a diverse team including external partners.
- Ability to communicate regularly and effectively on test results and observations.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

The expected compensation range for this position is $71,721 - $87,660, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
