Position Overview

This Postdoctoral Post‑Appointee Researcher position focuses on developing and implementing experimental and computational AI and automation tools to investigate fundamental interfacial processes in materials for electrochemistry. The role combines advanced computational modeling with hands‑on laboratory work, including electrochemical methods (galvanostatic/potentiostatic, AC impedance, hybrid potential/current control) and analytical techniques such as UV‑Vis absorption spectroscopy, ICP‑MS, LC‑MS, and GC‑MS. The researcher will build autonomous experimental campaigns, adapt existing workflows for automation, and work collaboratively with chemists, physicists, and materials scientists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop AI models (e.g., PLS‑DA, random forest, neural network) to uncover structure–function relationships from limited data sets.
  • Design and implement automated electrode–electrolyte interface discovery workflows and autonomous experimental campaigns.
  • Adapt experimental protocols for autonomous control and integrate them with computational analyses.
  • Collaborate with experimentalists to develop new electrochemical materials, both electrode and electrolyte components.
  • Conduct independent research, analyze results, and communicate findings within a multidisciplinary team.
Position Requirements
  • Ph.D. (or imminent completion) in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a closely related field within the past five years.
  • Strong background in fundamental electrochemistry and computational materials science.
  • Experience in code development and application of AI classifiers (PLS‑DA, random forest, neural network) to material science problems.
  • Familiarity with optimization techniques such as genetic search and Bayesian optimization.
  • Working knowledge of electrochemical instrumentation (potentiostat, cycler, electronic load) and materials characterization techniques.
  • Independent thinker with strong problem‑solving skills and excellent written and spoken English communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range: $72,879.00 – $. Pay will be determined based on job scope, qualifications, and market considerations. Comprehensive benefits are offered as part of the total rewards package.
