Post Doctoral Fellow – Clinical Prediction and Epidemiology of Diarrheal Diseases
University of Utah School of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases.
The Leung Lab ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) seeks a postdoctoral fellow to focus on clinical, translational, and epidemiological projects related to diarrheal diseases. The role involves developing diagnostic and prognostic clinical prediction rules to improve management of diarrheal illness, with possible international travel to collaborate with scientists in lower‑ and middle‑income countries in Africa and Asia. The position is funded by a NIH/NIAID R01 grant, with opportunities for additional projects aligned with the candidate’s interests.
Mentorship will be provided jointly by Dr. Daniel Leung and Dr. Ben Brintz.
- Conduct research on clinical, translational, and epidemiological projects related to diarrheal diseases.
- Develop diagnostic and prognostic clinical prediction rules to improve management of diarrheal illness.
- Collaborate with international scientists in selected low‑ and middle‑income countries, potentially involving travel.
- Engage in multidisciplinary teamwork with expertise in clinical medicine, epidemiology, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
- Explore additional research projects within the lab’s funding scope as aligned with the fellow’s interests.
- Experience in bioinformatics is beneficial but not essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
