The Research Associate positions support the research, data, and analytical activities of the Energy Institute. These roles assist with compiling and managing energy‑related datasets, performing basic to advanced analysis, reviewing literature, and preparing research deliverables for funded projects and programs. Tasks emphasize learning and applying established procedures under faculty and staff direction.
Research Associate 1 Responsibilities- Perform data cleaning, maintenance, and updating of energy‑related databases and spreadsheets. Use Excel, Stata, and R for basic statistical analysis.
- Document data preparation and analysis procedures to ensure data quality and reproducibility. Maintain detailed metadata.
- Become familiar with ArcGIS or other GIS software to create, edit, and analyze shape files and geodatabases; create maps and visualizations that communicate spatial data insights.
- Support and participate in research projects by conducting literature reviews, collecting and validating data, performing analysis as directed by faculty, and contributing to research reports and publications.
- Assist with Energy Institute outreach, update presentations for stakeholders, and support website and communications as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Conduct more complex statistical analyses using Excel, Stata, and R, including independent interpretation of results.
- Document analysis procedures and maintain detailed metadata to support data quality and reproducibility.
- Work with ArcGIS or other GIS software to create, edit, and analyze shape files and geodatabases; create maps and visualizations that effectively communicate spatial data insights; may assist in developing new GIS‑based research procedures and workflows.
- Independently support and participate in research projects by conducting literature reviews, collecting and validating data, and performing complex analysis with less direct supervision; write project summary reports and assist in preparing manuscripts for publication; may assist other researchers in developing new research procedures.
- Assist with Energy Institute outreach, update presentations for stakeholders, and support website and communications as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.
Research Associate 1Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in statistics, economics, or related fields.
Research Associate 2Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and one year of related research or work experience.
