Certified Swing Manager
The Certified Swing Manager role is the next step above Floor Supervisor and represents the first fully certified level of Shift Management. Swing Managers support the daily operations of the restaurant by leading assigned shifts, ensuring outstanding QSC&V (Quality, Service, Cleanliness & Value), and maintaining a safe and productive work environment. This position requires strong leadership, dependability, and an understanding of all McDonald's standards and procedures.
Swing Managers serve as role models for crew and trainers, help support change, and execute the operational routines required to run an effective shift.

Candidates for Certified Swing Manager must:
- Be dependable, responsible, and demonstrate strong leadership and professionalism.
- Follow all policies, appearance standards, and operational rules set by the Karpinske/Newman Organization.
- Take direction from senior management and support organizational changes.
- Display excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Have completed all Crew, Crew Trainer, and Floor Supervisor training and verifications.
- Have at least 60 days of experience with the Karpinske/Newman Organization and be in good standing.
- Have open and flexible availability, including:
- Ability to work a combination of mornings, nights, and weekends
- Ability to run multiple types of shifts as needed by the restaurant
- Maintain a performance record that supports advancement into leadership roles.
Certified Swing Managers must:
- Complete all Shift Manager training modules as assigned.
- Complete on-floor functionality training with the General Manager or Sr. Department Manager/Assistant GM.
- Complete the Leadership Transitions course within the first 9 months of promotion.
- Attend and pass Effective Shift Manager Training within the first 9 months.
- Pass Food Safety Certification.
- Complete and pass Shift Manager Verification following Effective Shift Manager Training.
Pay increases are tied directly to training completion and shift certification. Raises may be provided incrementally as benchmark modules and verifications are successfully completed. All increases follow the Karpinske/Newman Organization's established pay scale.
Appearance GuidelinesSwing Managers must maintain a professional, clean, and complete McDonald's uniform at all times, including:
- Clean, wrinkle-free uniform shirt and pants.
- Proper nonslip shoes.
- Nametag and approved hat/visor.
- Hair neat and secured following food safety standards.
- No unauthorized accessories or items that conflict with McDonald's brand appearance standards.
Swing Managers will receive regular performance reviews conducted by restaurant leadership. These reviews may influence:
- Continued employment in the Swing Manager role
- Hours scheduled
- Pay progression
- Advancement opportunities into Shift Manager and higher leadership positions
