Job Summary
As a sales associate you will be the face of our company, highlighting our brand and building our reputation as a customer‑focused organization. You will assist customers and help them recognize the need for our products and services, articulating our purpose in a professional and educational manner.
Duties and Responsibilities- Customer Service
- Proactively engage with customers and build connections.
- Ask questions and listen to customer needs.
- Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card benefits.
- Provide premier customer service and build positive, inclusive relationships.
- Take accountability for actions and outcomes.
- Organization – Maintain store appearance.
- Sales
- Cross‑sell products and know the store layout.
- Suggest latest trends and promotions based on individual customer needs.
- Upsell products and keep up with company tools and technology.
- Use the Point‑of‑Sales system to process cash, discounts, gift cards, credit and debit card transactions, and cash handling.
- Complete paperwork, reports, and reconciliation.
- Inventory – Be the keeper of merchandise; process inventory, check items in, and ensure accurate ticketing. May participate in periodic inventories.
- Dependability – Adhere to assigned work schedule, complete assignments accurately, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Product Knowledge – Basic knowledge of products and merchandise.
- Experience – Retail experience preferred but not required.
- Communication Skills – Strong interpersonal skills, ability to read, write, and interpret documents, and proper telephone etiquette.
- Mathematical Skills – Basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Reasoning Ability – Ability to multi‑task while attending to customers, remain flexible, work as part of a team, and act independently of direct supervision.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred; no experience required.
The position involves constant moving, talking, hearing, reaching, grabbing, and standing for at least two consecutive hours. It may occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders. Visual abilities include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role requires lifting at least 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs in some departments. Work is typically performed indoors but may require outdoor assignments depending on location.
